Our services explained
All testing is carried out by fully-trained collection officers. Strict procedures are followed to ensure that the dignity and privacy of the donor is preserved at all times, and that any positive results are legally defensible should a donor wish to challenge them. Where a sample indicates the presence of illicit drugs, a strict chain of custody procedure ensures that the sample reaches our laboratory in tamper-proof conditions.Our UKAS-accredited laboratory will test the sample to confirm or deny the presence of drugs, and a sample will be kept frozen for one year for further independent analysis should the donor wish to challenge the result
Instant
Instant screening is an excellent way to test in a busy environment. Using our ten panel drug testing cups we are able to carry out on-site urine screening that gives immediate results. Should we get a reading that indicates the presence of drugs, (known in the industry as a Non Negative), we then follow our strict Chain of Custody procedure to return the sample back to lab for confirmation. This is to ensure the reading isn’t the result of legal medication or any other factors.
Back to Lab
Back to Lab screening is standard practice for Network Rail, London Underground and National Grid. However, more and more companies are choosing to use our Back to Lab screening service. Rather than use the on-site instant cup, the samples are sent back to our state of the art laboratory via our strict Chain of Custody procedure. Once received they are fully screened for any traces of illicit drugs, and any Non Negative results are immediately confirmed.
Pre- employment
Companies such as Network Rail, London Underground and National Grid require all operatives to be screened prior to employment, or attending training courses leading to employment. Many more companies are adopting this approach when recruiting new staff. These screens can either be instant or Back to Lab.
For Cause
For cause testing is usually carried out where there has been an incident or accident at work related to an employee, or where an employee is suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Once a call has been received we aim to be on site within 2 hours, and the person being tested will be required to provide breath and urine samples within 1 hour of signing the consent form. We are able to carry out both instant and Back to Lab screens as required, and the Back to Lab screens will be fast tracked for a speedy result.
